Okay, here we go...

Sorry, I didn't quite mean to put it that way. I meant to put an
inflection on the word "was" to indicate that I really was
associated with the BSA, unlike Jonathan. I didn't mean to imply
that I was, not AM, an Eagle Scout. Just for the record, I still
AM an Eagle Scout, and I always will be. My mistake for using
the word "WAS".

Michael now writes...

Your wish is my command, sir...

Well, here is what you wrote...
> I think you do this fraternity a great diservice by denying our
> Scouting heritage.

I don't think that is an appropriate statement. I don't think
anyone is denying our Scouting heritage.

and this...

On this point, I don't think anyone was denying the necessity of
Scouting Advisors for contact with the scouts. I think that
Scouting Advisors should remain for contact with the BSA, GSA,
and other youth organizations. But, It should not be a
requirement is all I'm trying to say. It should especially not
be a requirement for starting a new chapter. I only think it
should be an option.

and this...
> I am not against the rewording of the bylaws as long as the

On this point, you're right. I agree with you.

> However it pains me

I belive that our organizations will continue to stay together,
no matter what we do to the National Bylaws. It doesn't have to
be a rule to interact with the BSA, GSA, or other organizations.
Chapters can still do it voluntarily, and there will be chapters
who will continue to operate the way they have always operated.
There is no reason why it has to be LAW to interact with the BSA.
It can still be encouraged, and chapters will still do it.

Now this...
> try to keep your head when answering mail... but you haven't
> had much luck with that in the past...

Whoa!! Hello! Where did THAT come from?? I'll take that as a
flame, thank you very much!

and this...
> my points were that !) a Scouting advisor can be an important

> change...

I don't think anyone was disputing that fact. I wholeheartedly
agree with you!

and this...
> and 2) commenting that I think there are plenty of peolpe out
> there who do not appreciate the debt we owe Scouting.

Personally, I recognize the debt that we owe scouting, and I
haven't met anyone yet who doesn't recognize that. I don't
understand, however, how that ties in with the discussion. Every
single chapter who works with the BSA probably will continue to
work with them, regardless of what rule changes happen.

and this...
> As i said I am not opposed to the wording change, I have been
> aware of the rift for the past 3 years and see the amendment

Than maybe I did misread your previous statements. But, one
thing is for sure, I didn't agree with them.

Sincerely yours in Leadership, Friendship, & Service,
Jeremy Gagliardi
