Hello my fellow undergraduates,

I am writing to you today to help conserve a piece of MIT history. As
you may or may not know, the Dollar Bill Mural is scheduled to be
replaced with a glass wall in the very near future to complete a new
lounge space that is to be for socializing and relaxing. Please take
3 seconds to click a button and fill out the survey.

*feel free to forward to other lists to hopefully reach most undergrads.*

For for information please keep reading:

The plans to this new space have not been kept private, but no final
presentation of the plans for this lounge were ever presented to the
student body for feedback. Please see

http://www-tech.mit.edu/V125/PDF/N26.pdf

for a idea of what current plans look like.

As of this moment, there are no plans to preserve the actual dollar
bill. There is an idea to have a smaller etching on one of the glass
panels of the dollar bill and a bit of history. Also etched on the
glass would be some text written by the class of 2005 as this is
their class gift.

An argument you should consider: Would you feel comfortable
socializing while the traffic of the infinite was staring at you?
Also, how much noise from the infinite will spill over into the
lounge during peak hours when all you have between you is a sheet of
glass? Lastly, do consider the lighting issue, glass will open the
space up but is it necessary? Is there another way to make the room
brighter?
